#7 Feb 17 - Version T16
Good day everyone!
Today marks the release of the 16th version of Overcomet.
This week as been quite busy as I’ve started teaching again, for those who aren’t aware I’m an independant worker (or however you say it in english) so in addition to trying to make games I also teach programming and such as well as doing some other random gigs. With covid teaching really hasn’t been easy but I’m now back on track with that so we’ll see how that goes.
Now regarding the game! I started the week by adding comets in the game, so they have a chance to show up on your celestial map (pink circles) but as of right now they don’t do anything. The plan is that you can’t land on comets like you do on asteroids or moons and such. Instead once you select them I’m thinking a mini-game will take place, where you follow the comet and collect stuff that fall from it as you go, or something I’m still designing it so it hasn’t been added in game just yet.
Then I moved to some art and content addition. I was entirely sure how I wanted the game to look, and I’m still not 100 % sure, but this week I did a lot of testing and I think I’m heading in the right direction. To experiment I decided to push a furniture set inspired by the 70s diners, so you’ll find different items under that category in game. I also made it so those all can be crafted for only 1 carbon so people can experiment and made the player start with 30 carbon.
I also spent some time on fixing different issues people mentionned in the past weeks.
Changes :
- Added 70s Counter Straight
- Added 70s Counter Corner
- Added 70s Stool
- Added 70s Bench
- Added 70s Dinner Table
- Added Kitchen Floor
- Added Plain Floor
- Added Plain Wall
- Player now starts with 30 Carbon
- Confirmation when sending a bug report in game
- Disabled some button inputs when different menues are open (Opening the inventory when in the bug report window,etc...
- Comets can now spawn on the celestial map but have no effect for now
- Changed how light behaves
- ...
Coming Week :
I plan on still working and doing art tests, as I want to kind of finalize it, to get an idea of the look I really want to be able to then base the rest of the assets on. I feel like I’ve been saying this for a couple weeks now but I feel like I am getting closer.
I also want to get comets to behave properly so you can actually harvest resources from them. Maybe add another friend, I have a couple sketch in my notepad for some I’d like to add .
I also want to look into the ability to recolor some parts of furnitures, but that might have to wait the week after, as I need to find a better way to streamline my model making process.
So I leave you with this new build, go ahead and have fun making and customizing your own rooms!
